In my extended family I have seen nutritious foods and essential oils be used to help clear gout, gastro distress, headaches, sunburn, poison ivy, insomnia, and stress...just to name a few. My backyard has been reclaimed from the mosquitoes through non chemical interventions that did not harm our fish, turtles, frogs, and even the squirrels and raccoons:)
In addition to practicing yoga and daily meditations, I enjoy 7-10 day meditation retreats annually, and enjoy participating in a weekly sangha in Lincroft, New Jersey.
